The Tonto Trail in Grand Canyon looks remarkably
flat when viewed from the rim. This view is very
deceiving, however, as the trail is filled with
climbs and descents throughout. This trail is also
filled with some of the most amazing sights one can
imagine. The perspective from below the rim is so
much different from that on the rim, it cannot
be accurately described. This image was taken on
the third day of the five day trek through the
backcountry from the Tonto Trail nearing Salt Creek
Canyon. The Salt Creek rapids can be seen to the
right of the image and the Granite Rapids can be
seen farther up the river. The moon was still up at
this time and the clouds just add to the drama of
the scene. This is one of my favorite Grand Canyon
images and brings back some incredible memories of
an unforgettable experience --Rebecca. |
