Our last night of camping in Grand Canyon was at
the Hermit Creek campsite. The hike to the campsite
was the shortest of the trip, but the day was
exceptionally hot. When we arrived at the campsite,
we could hear rushing water, but couldn't see the
origin of the sound. Keith walked a short distance
from our chosen site and found the creek and this
amazing little pool of water fed by the running
creek. The pool was just below a small waterfall
and was simply too inviting to pass up. We spent a
lot of time in that little pool (which was a
plus considering it had been four days since our
last showers!). We cooled off from the hike and
relaxed before the next day's hike out of the
canyon. I love this little fall because even
surrounded by the immensity of Grand Canyon, it is
still impressive and beautiful in it's simplicity.
