Moran Point Tree

After a five day hike in Grand Canyon National Park, it is nice to be able to take in scenery by driving to it. After our backcountry experience, we took my father-in-law on the drive along the east rim to the various lookout points where we were able to see the trails we had been on during the previous five days. This image was taken from Moran Point on the east rim drive. During my trip to Grand Canyon in November 2000, my friend Sheila had found this particular tree to nicely frame the canyon and I feel she should get some of the credit for this image. We had several people approach us as I was taking this image (as often happens when a 4 x 5 view camera is taken out) and ask about the camera and why I was using it as opposed to a 'new' camera. I really enjoy talking to people about the camera and offering them the opportunity to see how it works. It is this interaction that makes shooting in populated areas really enjoyable for me. --Rebecca
