Wailua Falls is the waterfall you see in the opening sequence of the 1970's (and early 80's) show "Fantasy Island". The general viewpoint is from the top of the falls, but it was obstructed by the chain link fence, which also kept me from being able to get in front of some bushes that were in the way as well. There is a "trail" that can get you to the bottom if you are crazy enough to try it. We found this trail in a guidebook, but it is not an official trail and if you go on it, you are on your own. It is VERY steep and slippery. When we got to the bottom, I was able to cross a shallow stream to get the full view of the magnificent falls. This is one of the resulting images. --Rebecca |
