You know you are a photography nut, when you carry
your equipment wherever you go. This image is a
direct by-product of that mantra. On the way home
from a WNBA Phoenix Mercury basketball game at
America West Arena, we saw some storm activity and
pulled off Shea Boulevard in Fountain Hills, AZ at
Fish Point Overlook. This overlook is a popular
place for people to park and watch storms over the
city of Mesa. Rebecca pulled off, set up the medium
format camera, and seconds later she captured this
small cluster of lightning over the ridge. Less
than five minutes later, the monsoon rains came and
we had to pack it up. We got some interesting looks
from the storm watchers setting up a metal tripod
in a lightning storm. We just need to maintain
knowing when to say when it's time to leave. --Keith |
