This ominous image was captured on medium format at
a place we call Compass Point. We name some of our
prime locations in the desert so we know where to
meet if we do not set out together for a shoot. We
call this location Compass Point because we can
shoot almost in every direction without obstructed
views. We've since found better locations but, for a
while, this was our location of choice. The night
this was taken, we felt a nice breeze and could hear the wind passing
through the needles of nearby saguaros. For those of you who have never
heard this subtle sound, it is one of the most peaceful things you can
