Lake Solitude is located in the backcountry of
Grand Teton National Park. It is at an elevation of
9,200 feet and it is, by far, my favorite place on
earth (so far). I got up before sunrise this
morning in September 1999 and made the short trek
from the campsite to Lake Solitude to shoot the
sunrise. I realized I had forgotten my box of extra
film, so Keith hiked back to the campsite to get
it. In the time it took him to go to the site and
return with my film, I was able to enjoy the most
peaceful moment in my life. I cannot explain why
this place at this time turned out to be the most
enjoyable, but it was. I wish everyone could
experience such peace sometime, somewhere. For me
it was Lake Solitude. -- Rebecca |
